python-matplotlib software package provides Python based plotting system in a style similar to Matlab, you can install in your Ubuntu 14.04 LTS (Trusty Tahr) by running the commands given below on the terminal,
$ sudo apt-get update $ sudo apt-get install python-matplotlib
python-matplotlib is installed in your system.
Make ensure the python-matplotlib package were installed using the commands given below,
$ sudo dpkg-query -l | grep python-matplotlib *
You will get with python-matplotlib package name, version, architecture and description in a table
